Piper Martin

Student of Law and Philosophy

Piper Martin wants to inspire young girls and women in any way she can and she intends to do this through a career in law. We asked her to present her case.

What are you doing at the moment?

I’m studying a Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Philosophy at university. I’m also working with an advertising agency as an editor, which is a good role for me while I’m studying.

Did you know what you wanted to do at school?

From Years 7 – 9, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. In my senior years at school, I became extremely passionate about Law.  I knew that fighting for human rights – women’s rights specifically – was where my heart belonged.

What helps you to be confident?

I remind myself that when I put my mind to something, I can do anything. I think women need to be reminded of this, because they are so incredibly powerful when they strive to be.

Who has inspired you on your path?

Mainly my mum, who is an amazing, hardworking, dedicated and inspiring woman. I also admire women like Michelle Obama, Oprah, Meryl Streep, Megan Markle, as well as female lawyers who have fought for change.

What are your thoughts on choosing a career?

I believe that when people study what they find inspiring and interesting, they can achieve greatness. For my part, I’m excited to get to where I want to be and work alongside great people to make a change and demand justice for many.
